Play a Key Role in World-Class Economic Research

The Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE) at the Department of Economics at the University of Oxford is seeking a highly organised and motivated Projects Officer to support major multi-partner research initiatives focused on economic development in Africa.

The CSAE is a world-leading research centre tackling some of the most pressing development challenges. What You’ll Do

As CSAE Projects Officer, you will:

  • Manage the financial and administrative delivery of CSAE’s research programmes.
  • Support principal investigators and researchers with budgeting, forecasting, grant reporting, and contract coordination.
  • Act as a key liaison between academic departments, international collaborators, and funders.
  • Coordinate workshops, international meetings, and high-profile events.
  • Assist with hiring and onboarding researchers, arranging travel, and maintaining communications and programme websites.


What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Educated to degree level or has equivalent professional experience.
  • Experienced in research administration and financial management in higher education or a similar setting.
  • Detail-oriented, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure.
  • A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills across cultural contexts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and willing to learn new systems quickly.

Desirable: Knowledge of Oxford’s financial or HR systems, and/or experience working with research teams in developing countries.
